The AC Cobra 289 Evocation by Hawk offered here at Autostorico is a 1965 registered example and classified as a historic vehicle. This outstanding example was completed in 2005 to the highest possible standard with no expense being sparred. Finished in Dark Blue with Black leather interior trim the car has covered an indicated 26,102 miles.

The engine is a genuine Ford 289 (4.7 litre) V8 engine date coded to 1965. Having been rebuilt using the original block, crank and rods with new pistons, cylinder heads complete (approx. 9:1 CR, unleaded aluminium Edelbrock heads), camshaft and followers, inlet manifold, oil pump, all bearings, timing gear and chain, water pump, Mallory distributor, Edelbrock carburettor, Sanderson ceramic coated exhaust manifolds and stainless-steel exhaust system. The gearbox is a Borg-Warner (Tremec) T5 new unit with a Jaguar Powerlock 3.54:1 ratio (to the same spec as the original Cobra’s) with outboard rear disc brakes as per original specification. The front suspension is Hawk’s tubular design with coil-over telescopic dampers. The radiator is fabricated in aluminium along with its header tank with all hoses being silicone.

Complete with period correct gauges, 16” Motolita steering wheel, Mohair hood, Mohair tonneau cover. Correct Perspex side screens live behind an elasticated curtain behind the seats, as they would on an original Cobra. The car also benefits from a modern heater with variable fan speed. The original Cobra fresh air ducting is also in place.

The car has just returned from Haileywood Specialist Cars who have carried out a comprehensive pre-sale’s inspection and service with new suspension bushes fitted along with 4 x new tyres.

Offered for sale with a current V5 registration document, a history file including an original build manual, numerous invoices and other related material. Also included in the sale a substantial spares package including; New alloy radiator, half shafts, suspension struts and shocks, brake callipers, discs and drums and stub axles.

This stunning example drives exceptionally well and must be one of the most accurate Cobra recreations currently available.
