Production of the AC Aceca started in 1954 and continued until 1963. Based on the open two-seat AC Ace the Aceca took a design by John Tojeiro that used a light ladder type tubular frame, all independent transverse leaf spring suspension and a closed two seater all alloy body made using English wheeling machines. Early cars took their power from AC’s elderly 100bhp two litre engine. From 1956 AC adopted the ex BMW two litre straight six cylinder Bristol engine with triple carburation, which produced 120bhp. Fitted with a four-speed gearbox, top speed leapt to 118mph with a 0-60 mph time of just 9 seconds.

The AC Aceca’s well-appointed interior is refined and sporty with its curved windscreen, leather clad bucket seats and carpeted rear section. The hatchback rear door and spacious open rear shelf made the car ideal for European touring with its ample room for luggage.

The AC Bristol powered Aceca offered here at Autostorico is a 1959 matching numbers example finished in its original White with Red leather interior.

BE 752 (Chassis number) was first registered to Mrs Lorna Pickering from St Johns Wood in London on 1st May 1959. The car remained in the UK with two further keepers, before being purchased by a Canadian collector in 1989 who kept the car in Vancouver. BE 752 returned to Europe in 2009 when Walter Storz a German AC enthusiast bought the car. Finally returning to the UK in 2014 when its current owner an avid AC fan purchased it and reunited it with its original registration number XGJ412. Since then the car has been in regular use and has been maintained to the highest possible standard, with recent works carried out by IN Racing.
