Alfa Romeo GT 1600 Junior

The Alfa Romeo GT 1600 Junior Coupe was introduced in 1972 to plug the gap between the GT 1300 and the larger engined 2000 GTV. The GT Junior was based on a shortened Giulia (105) saloon platform. Penned by Giorgetto Giugiaro the basic body shape shared by all models was one of his first major projects for Bertone, and borrowed heavily from his earlier design for the Alfa Romeo 2000 Sprint and 2600 Sprint. The balance of glass and metal, the influence of the shape of the front and rear glass on the shape of the cabin, and the flat grille with incorporated headlamps were ground-breaking styling features for the era. The 1570cc, double overhead camshaft engine produced an impressive 108bhp which was enough to propel the 1600 Junior to 60mph in just 9.3 seconds and on to a top speed of 115 mph.

The Alfa Romeo GT 1600 Junior offered here at Autostorico is a 1975 example which is finished in metallic Silver with Black interior.
