Ford Model A Deluxe Roadster
The Ford Model A was the Ford Motor Company’s second market success, after its predecessor the Model T, which had been built for 18 years. Production started on 20thOctober 1927 and by July 1928 more than two million had already been sold continuing Fords success.
The Ford Model A Deluxe Roadster offered here by Autostorico is 1931 built example finished in its original colour scheme of Green with Black wings and Black leather interior trim. The car arrived in the United Kingdom in early 2019 having been recently restored in California. Mechanically the car was superb and ran beautifully, however its paintwork didn’t meet up with the new owners exacting standards. He undertook a complete repaint and at the same time replaced some of the chrome work, including the radiator grille surround, spare wheel trim and windscreen frame.
Purchased by its current owner a pre-war Ford enthusiast in 2020. He immediately commissioned TJ Abbott Ltd to build a competitive Model B engine with pressure fed oil to the main bearings and a balanced crankshaft along with Weber carburettor which gives it far better performance than the A unit (full engine specification available at request). Other notable improvements include a new coil along with the distributor ‘innards’ of modern design have been installed.
This must be the best Model A currently on the market. Not only in stunning cosmetic condition but also mechanically perfect.
Supplied with a current V5 registration certificate and a history file including numerous invoices and also its original engine.
