Jaguar XK140 Roadster

The Jaguar XK140 was launched at the 1954 London Motor Show as the successor to the Jaguar XK120. Available in three body styles fixed head coupe, drophead coupe and roadster. Whilst the 140 was similar in design to the outgoing model it was considerably more refined. Upgrades included; more interior space with three inches extra leg room for taller drivers, improved brakes, rack and pinion steering, increased suspension travel, telescopic shock absorbers, close ratio gearbox and subtle bodywork changes including a wider radiator grille, new rear lights incorporating flashing indicators and larger bumpers to the front and rear. Under the bonnet the XK140 retained Jaguars well proven 3.4 litre twin cam six cylinder engine, which now produced 190bhp, this in turn offered a 0-60mph of 9.1 seconds and onto a top speed of 140mph (hence the cars name.)

The Jaguar XK140 Roadster offered here at Autostorico was first registered in February 1957 Chassis no: 813223. This beautiful example was one of the last XK140’s made before Jaguar started production of its replacement, the XK150.  Supplied new by Jaguar Cars, New York, USA the car spent much of its life in Houston Texas before retuning to the UK in 2004. Finished in British Racing Green with Sage Green leather interior, this stunning example has undergone a full body off nut and bolt restoration. Works included; replacing all corroded panels, full chassis and suspension overhaul. The interior has been completely re-trimmed with new carpets and hood. The engine has undergone a complete rebuild and has been enhanced with the addition of electronic ignition and an alternator. A new five speed gearbox has been fitted to give more relaxed high speed touring. Other work undertaken includes: Full re-wire, Front disc brakes fitted, Re-chromed, Axle rebuild and new wire wheels and tyres. The car comes complete with a Jaguar heritage certificate, current MOT, Photographic evidence of restoration and numerous receipts.

This is the perfect opportunity to own a true British classic, which will certainly appreciate further over time.
