Lancia Flaminia Sport 3C Coupe
The Lancia Flaminia was launched at the 1956 Turin Motor Show as a direct replacement for the hugely successful Aurelia. Utilising a similar layout to the Aurelia with a rear transaxle gearbox and in-board brakes the Falminia was powered by a 2.5 litre V6 engine with a standard Solex carburettor. A shortened wheelbase model followed with the striking Zagato bodied Flaminia Sport. The Zegato featured the Milanese styling houses renowned double bubble body form in which low overall lines and rounded streamlined shape are achieved by a simple but ingenious device of convex head clearance roof bulges above each front seat. Other upgrades included fitting triple Weber 35DNC carburettors which boasted a power output of 140 bhp which propelled the car to a top speed of 130mph.
The Lancia Flaminia Sport 3C Coupe offered here at Autostorico was registered in 1962 and is one of only 400 Zagato sports produced. This beautiful design is made more sleek by the addition of fared in headlights. Finished in Lancia Blue with Red Connolly leather interior this striking triple carburettor model underwent a complete restoration between 1990 and 1993 by KCA the renowned Lancia experts in Italy. Taking over 1,750 man hours to compete, the restoration cost the equivalent of €180,000 once completed. The Flaminia then remained in the same family ownership for the next 20 years and was kept in an air-condioned garage and driven on a weekly basis. Prior to the cars purchase by its current owner in 2015 it received a full service including replacement of the brake servo system and adjustment of the three carburettors at a cost of €9,000. More recently, Thornley Kelham the Gloucestershire, Lancia specialist, have maintained and serviced the car with works including; replacement exhaust system, replacement brake master cylinder and brake reservoir and fitted 5 new Michelin tyres and tubes.
This rare car is supplied with a current V5 registration document and Lancia factory documentation confirming specification. Of equal importance is a letter from Dottore Elio Zagato, written in 1993, confirming that carrozzeria Zagato offered a service to retrofit faired in headlights to later cars even after they had left the factory which our car has. This explains why this extremely rare example makes such an attractive proposition with earlier streamlined front end and more powerful 3C engine.
This is a perfect opportunity to own a very sought after Lancia Flaminia Sport, which will only appreciate further over time.
