Mercedes Benz CL600
The Mercedes Benz CL Class Coupe was the flagship of the range. The second generation was launched in 1998 and followed the same development cycle as the S-Class although riding on an 8-inch shorter wheelbase and only offering the higher output engines. It was the first to feature Adaptive Body Control suspension, Xenon headlights and on the CL600 V12 models Active Cylinder Control. This shut down one bank of cylinders under light engine load enabling better fuel economy than the V8 CL500, whilst still producing 367bhp. Offering seating and ample luggage room for four adults without compromising performance, the six litre V12, propels the car for 0-60mph in just under 6 secs and onto a limited 155mph.
