MG TD
The MG TD was launched in January 1950 as the replacement for the MG TC and, for the first time, a left hand drive option was available to cater for the demand from the US for British sports cars. Introduced as the first post-war MG, the TD combined the TC’s drivetrain and included a hypoid-geared rear axle, shortened TC chassis with full independent suspension, new rack and pinion steering, resulting in much improved handling. Powered by a 1250cc engine the TD boasted a top speed of 77mph and could accelerate from 0-60mph in just under 20 secs.
The MG TD offered for sale at Autostorcio is a December 1952 example built for the North American market. Chassis number TD23135 was first registered to Mr Coreita of California and remained in the same family ownership until 2011. The car was then sold by Mrs Coreita to Mr Keller who kept the car for 2 years until the current owner acquired it. At this point the car was repatriated to the UK where it underwent a full body-off, no expense spared, restoration. Works included; full chassis shot blast and re-paint in body colour, bodywork prepared for a bare metal respray, suspension and running gear overhaul replacing parts where necessary, complete engine rebuild, full re-wire, re-trimmed interior and chrome replaced. This beautiful car is finished in Gloss Black with Tan leather interior and matching Tan all-weather gear
This stunning car offers the opportunity to own a very usable British classic car, which is perfect for Classic car rallies and will only appreciate further over time.
