Renault Clio V6 Sport
The Renault Clio V6 Sport was launched in 2001 and built by Tom Walkinshaw Racing. Reminiscent of the Renault 5 Turbo of the mid 1980s and based on the MKII Clio, the V6 Sport was a dramatic-looking, mid-engined homologation special that boasted rear wheel drive. The Clio V6 was powered by Renaults 3.0 litre V6 engine, upgraded to 227 bhp and coupled to a six-speed manual gearbox. As the engine occupied the space normally reserved for rear passengers, this hot hatchback was a motorcar made for two. Accelerated flat out, it could reach 60mph in just over six seconds and go onto a top speed of 150 mph. The raw sound of the V6 engine just behind the driver made the driving experience very different to a normal front wheel drive hot hatch.
