The Porsche 964 debuted in 1989 after undergoing a major evolution. The success of the 964 was extremely important to Porsche as the world economy was undergoing a recession and Porsche understood they could not just rely on image alone to sell the new car. The 964 incorporated many new technologies developed from the iconic 959 model. Whilst still retaining a familiar silhouette of previous generations the 964 boasted a drag coefficient of just 0.32 Cd thanks to its deeper bumpers, sills and flatter floorplan. High speed stability is maintained by a self-deploying rear spoiler which rises above 48 mph, yet still preserving the purity of line whilst stationary. The 964 was powered by an extensively reworked 3.6 litre, air cooled, flat six-cylinder engine producing 247 bhp. This impressive engine is capable of propelling the 964 from 0-60 mph in just 6.2 sec and onto a top speed of 159 mph. Other significant revisions included; Power steering,  ABS braking system, Coil springs and shock absorbers.
